Everyone Can Make Music

Our proprietary sensor technology leverages modern mobile devices to make expressive music-making accessible to everyone.

Experience the future of music expression

The IMI Philosophy

Music should be accessible to everyone. Traditional instruments require years of practice to produce satisfying results. IMI changes that—enabling immediate musical expression while preserving the depth and nuance that makes music meaningful.

Accessibility Without Compromise

IMI instruments lower the barrier to entry without sacrificing expressive capability. Beginners make music immediately, while advanced players discover professional-grade control.

Technology Serves Expression

Our Force Sensing Resistor technology translates subtle pressure variations into musical nuance—bridging the gap between intention and sound.

The Joy of Creation

Music-making should feel natural and rewarding from day one. IMI's PlayAlong system ensures every touch produces musical results—building confidence while developing skills.

Smart Architecture

By leveraging smartphone processing power, we deliver professional expression at consumer price points—making quality instruments accessible to everyone.

Touch is Everything

In music, emotion flows through touch. Our instruments capture the subtlety of human expression—from the gentlest touch to the most powerful strike.

Built for Everyone

From children taking first musical steps to experienced musicians seeking new voices, IMI instruments welcome all—offering natural musical expression without prerequisites.

The IMI Family

Five expressive controllers leveraging proprietary FSR technology and smartphone architecture. Traditional instrument forms with professional expression capability—enabled by vertical manufacturing integration and smart design.

WindBoard

WindBoard

Electronic wind controller with recorder-like fingering. Express through breath pressure and lip control—creating nuanced phrases with every breath.

MelodiKeyZ

MelodiKeyZ

Touch-responsive keyboard that can be handheld, worn, or desktop. Play with breath or touch for harmonica-like expression and dynamic control.

DrumKit

DrumKit

Compact percussion with 5 drums and 5 cymbals. Squeeze for pitch modulation, pressure-controlled rolls, and talking-drum effects.

Shaker

Shaker

Rhythm controller with real-time pitch control. Percussion meets melody—bend notes while keeping the beat with intuitive gestures.

Syntar

Syntar

Digital guitar controller with interchangeable bodies. Programmable strummer vanes and pressure-sensitive fretboard capture bends, hammer-ons, and harmonics.

Introducing PlayAlong

"PlayAlong is to music what a calculator is to math"

You provide the timing and expression—PlayAlong provides harmonic and melodic support. All notes flow in smooth, connected streams. When you touch your instrument, the current note unmutes. The harder you press, the louder it plays.

You can't play a wrong note. Focus entirely on expression—the WHEN and HOW of music. Release or touch again, and the music flows naturally with your phrasing.

Always Musical

Continuous note streams mean every touch creates sound

Competitive Advantages

IMI's unique position enables professional expression at unprecedented price points through proprietary technology and smart architecture.

1. Patents

Six patents protect IMI's sensor technology, instrument designs, and PlayAlong application with additional provisional filings pending. Force Sensing Resistor technology, invented by Franklin Eventoff. Protected intellectual property with decades of development refinement.

2. Manufacturing

Vertical integration through Sensitronics. Direct manufacturing access eliminates middleman markup and ensures supply chain control.

3. Expertise

40+ years optimizing FSR implementation in musical instruments. Unmatched knowledge of pressure-sensitive expression technology.

4. Cost Structure

Manufacturing cost vs. retail pricing advantage. Proprietary FSR access creates sustainable margin opportunities unavailable to competitors.

5. Architecture

Smartphone-powered strategy eliminates expensive internal components. Professional expression at consumer price points through smart design.

The Result: A Sustainable Market Position

IMI combines proprietary sensor technology, vertical manufacturing integration, and innovative architecture to deliver professional-grade expressive instruments at price points competitors cannot match. This creates opportunities for strategic partnerships, licensing agreements, and market expansion across multiple channels.

About the Inventor

Franklin Eventoff

Pioneer of Force Sensing Technology | Founder, Interlink Electronics (NASDAQ: LINK) & Sensitronics

Franklin Eventoff invented Force Sensing Resistor (FSR) technology in 1977 and patented it in 1980. His innovations have earned prestigious recognition including the California Governor's Award for Innovation (1986) and the International IR 100 Award for FSR development (1987).

In 1985, Franklin founded Interlink Electronics (NASDAQ: LINK), which became a leading supplier of FSR technology globally. The company was recently acquired, validating decades of innovation and market leadership. In 2001, he founded Sensitronics, which today supplies FSRs to leading musical instrument manufacturers worldwide and provides IMI's vertical manufacturing integration.

Franklin's FSR technology powers products across multiple industries—from consumer electronics to medical devices and aerospace applications. He has successfully licensed musical instrument innovations to major companies including Mattel (Magical Musical Thing, 1978) and Hasbro (Electronic Orchestra, 1982), and licensed The KEY instrument—IMI's predecessor—to Lonestar Technologies in 1992.

IMI represents nearly 50 years of continuous FSR refinement, combining Franklin's patented technology with vertical manufacturing integration. Recent innovations include the XactFSR (2013) and the newly patented LowDrift FSR (2025), ensuring IMI instruments deliver professional expression at unprecedented price points.
